French Royal and Revolution Coins (1610-1794)
Ancien Régime French numismatics is about to be renewed with the release in fall 2023 of Arnaud Clairand’s work on coins minted under the reigns of Louis XIII (1610-1643), Louis XIV (1643-1715), Louis XV (1715-1774) and Louis XVI (1774-1793) and in livres tournois under the Convention. This master work is based upon the study of over 800 000 monetary photographic archives and includes:
- A renewed typology together with designation changes for some denominations.
- Reliable and accurate mintage figures (per semester, master/director, etc.).
- Explanatory context is provided for coin issuances in a particularly fine presentation including coin edge patterns.
- 12,767 coins found out of a list of 16 878 archived items (75.64 %).
- Privy marks are illustrated for each coin found, i.e. 27,743 in total.
- 76,602 coin prices among six condition grades and six rarity grades..
